Reason for Loss | Attacked by a night fighter which hit the Lancaster with upward-firing cannon over the Berlin area. Crashed near Sulzthal, Germany, 10km NW of Schweinfurt, where the four crew members who perished were initially laid to rest before being transferred to Durnbach War Cemetery. Three crew members succeeded in abandoning the aircraft and were taken prisoner. |
