Reason for Loss | At around 1845 P/O Michell (a Rhodesian) tried to land at Balderton airfield, Notts after experiencing engine failure. While doing so he missed his first approach and while trying to go round again the engine cut completely and the Hampden finished up in a field near the hall, with its wheels and flaps still down. A fire broke out on impact. |
