In de nacht van 8 November 1941 stortte een Britse bommenwerper Hampden Mk I (P1206) neer in een weiland in Berkhout. De bommenwerper van het 49e Sqn van de Roval Air Force was door een Duitse nachtjager tidens een missie naar Bocholt geraakt. Alle bemanningsleden kwamen daarbi o;m het leven.
Translation "On the night of November 8, 1941, a British Hampden Mk I bomber (P1206) crashed in a meadow in Berkhout. The bomber of 49 Sqn RAF was hit by a German nightfighter during a mission to Bocholt. All crew members lost their lives." |
