Reason for Loss | Shot down by a night-fighter flown by Hptm. Rudolf Sigmund of 10./NJG1 10km north of Edam and crashed into the IJsselmeer near Hoorn, Netherlands. The bodies of the crew washed ashore at different locations between 3 and 5 July. Hobbs washed up near Kirk 5 July, Sams washed up nr Elburg 5 July, Mott and Bishop washed up at Urk, King washed ashore South of Harderwijk 5 July and Slater's body was recovered from the Ijsselmeer on 5 July at 01.40hrs found floating between Elburg & Urk by local Elburg fisherman, JW Nant Goor fishing boat EB62. |
