Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born on 20 November 1922 at Crystal Falls, Ontario. Both parents were deceasedby the time of his enlistment. His father was born in Allumette Island, Quebec and his mother in Bonfield, Ontario. He had six brothers and also one married sister Azeline Marie Leavigne. Joseph attended a Separate School 1930-1939 and then Collegiate Institute 1939-1940 studying shop work. He had no official work but spent one month in a lumber mill and another in an Ammunition plant. He enjoyed playing softball, hockey and swimming. |
On 21 November 1941 he enlisted and after training embarked for the U.K. on 28 October 1942 arriving at 3 PRC On 6 November 1942. He arrived at 7 AGS 22 December 1942, 29 OTU 16 February 1943, 1654CU 20 May 1943 and 61 Squadron on 3 July 1943. Sadly this young man was to lose his life shortly afterwards, on 16 August 1943. |
