Reason for Loss | He was wounded during the operation so the pilot returned early and put the aircraft down at Honiton near Exeter, the base of 307 Polish Sqn. While taking the wounded serviceman off the Wellington in darkness he was struck by a propeller which was still rotating slightly. He never regained consciousness. His body was transported back to Hemswell and subsequently buried at Newark |
