Miscellaneous Information
William was born on 14 December 1922 at Vancouver. His father was born Collingwood, Ontario, and was deceased by the time of William's enlistment). He had been a machinery salesman. His mother was born in Vancouver. He had a brother James A. W.Miller, who was an LAC in RCAF. The schools he attended were Cecil Rhodes, Vancouver, 1930-1938 and King Edward 1938-1941 (Jnr. Matric). His occupations were as a Service Man for Addressograph- Multigraph during 1941, for Empire Sheet Metal as a helper, then Vancouver Supply Company, chemistry, 1941-1942. He also worked as a machinist for Northern Metals in 1942. He had no hobbies but enjoyed football, basketball, rugby and swimming. |
He then enlisted on 29 September 1942 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 30 March 1944 and arrived at 3 PRC on 8 April, then onwards to 6 (P) AFU on 9 May 1944, 12 OTU 13 June 1944 and 22 OTU on 25 July 1944. Very sadly William then lost his life on 3 August 1944. |
