Miscellaneous Information
Douglas was born on 22 May 1925 at Toronto, Ontario. His father was a caretaker, and both he and his mother were born in Dundee, Scotland. The schools he attended were Silverthorne Public, York Township 1931-1938 followed by York Memorial Collegiate Institute, 1938-1940. His sport interests were hockey, rugby, basketball, hunting and swimming. Douglas worked for Brooks Manufacturing Company 1940-1941 where he undertook brass work and then for Moffats at Weston, die making, from 1941. |
He enlisted on 8 January 1943 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 3 May 1944 arriving at 3 (RCAF) PRC on 11 May. He then continued to 10 (0)AFU 30 May 1944, 3 PRC 11 July 1944 and 22 OTU on 25 July 1944. Sadly he died on 31 August 1944. |
