Miscellaneous Information
| Douglas was on his second tour. He initially trained as a wireless operator/air gunner and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Medal with No. 61 Squadron, his citation noting how he had shot out searchlights and driven away enemy fighters. He had later spent time with 24 OTU at Honeybourne as a gunnery instructor, later joining 153 as a wireless operator. He was 23 and came from Dundee where he attended the Morgan Academy and later worked as a clerk for R G Kennedy and Company before joining the RAF. |
