Miscellaneous Information
The wreckage of Lancaster PD268 was found 2013-14 when Horst Klötzer, a German aviation archeologist, excavated the aircrafts wreckage in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Ernest Mahr, younger brother of the specialist operator Rudolf Mahr has since visited the site, where a plaque now marks the exact location of the crash. |
As with many specialist operators, Rudolf Mahr was a German speaking Jew. Born on the 14th February 1926 in Russia, his father John was also born in Russia but had took Canadian citizenship. His mother Anna came originally from Germany, but had also taken Canadian citizenship. |
