Miscellaneous Information
Jack was born at Hamilton, Ontario on 18 November 1920. His father was born in Scotland and was a Tool and Die maker and his mother was born at Hamilton, Ontario. He had brothers George who was in rhe RCAF In the U.K., and James who was a PoW. Both survived, three other brothers Alex, Peter and Richard had sadly all died young. He also had three sisters, Margaret, Mary and Ethel. The schools he attended were all in Windsr, Ontario: Cameron Avenue School 1926-1934, Patterson C.I. 1934-1939 and Vocation High School , 1939- 1940. The sports he engaged in were hockey, football and baseball. He worked at Chick Materials Ltd., Windsor, as an Office clerk in 1940 for approx three months, and then at Ford Motor Co., also as an office clerk, 1940-1941 also inWindsor. |
He enlisted on 10 November 1941 and after training he embarked from Canada on 28 October 1942, and arrived at 3 PRC on 5 November 1942. He was then at 4 AOS 8 March 1943, 16 OTU 20 April 1943, 1660 CU 6 July 1943, and 50 Squadron on 4 August 1943. Sadly Jack then lost his life the following month on 4 September 1943. |
