Miscellaneous Information
Stanley was born in Winnipeg on 18 January 1917. Both parents were born in Poland and his father who worked as a Section Foreman. He was deceased by the time of Stanley's enlistment. He has four sisters, Stella, Cecelia, Julia and Helen. The schools he attended were Alameda, Saskatchewan, 1924-1930 (grade 8) and Fort William, Ontario 1931-1933 (grade 11). Stanley did various odd jobs in construction work during 1933-1937 and was then Assistant Foreman at Lake Sulphate Pulp Co.between 1937-1938. He did spray gun painting between 1938-1940 and then was a fabric worker at Canada Car and Foundry, an Aircraft Plant, between 1940-1942. His sport interests were running, rugby and both hard and softball. |
He enlisted on 21 July 1942 and after training was posted to the U.K.. He embarked from Halifax on 13 September 1943, arriving at 3PRC on 20 September and then went through 1(0) AFU 9 November 1943, 28 OTU 18 January 1944, 11 Base 24 April 1944 and finally 576 Squadron on 14 June 1944. Stanley sadly lost his life the following month on 15 July 1944. |
