Reason for Loss | The pilot momentarily lost control while off the Dutch coast and told the crew to prepare to abandon the aircraft. Five seconds later the pilot regained control but by then the navigator had bailed out. His body was never found. The aircraft returned safely and landed in a cornfield near Waterbeach, where it was left until the harvest was brought in, after which it was flown back to base! |
