Reason for Loss | Reported to have crashed into the sea at 14:25. Pilot may have been endeavouring to descend under the cloud base or may have lost control in the thick overcast. Several vesels searched for the crew to no avail. However, three days later, the body of Sgt Clarke RCAF was recovered by trawler off Gurdie ness. he is buried alongside Sgt Holmes. The other three crew have no known grave. |
