Miscellaneous Information
William was born on 7 April 1919 at Toronto and was then adopted by James and Elizabeth Hogg. His father who was born at York Mills, Ontario was disabled and his mother was born in Essex County, Ontario. He attended Danforth Park school, Toronto 1926-1934 (public course), East York Collegiate 1934-1935, (Commercial High School) and East York Collegiate 1937-1940 (Matriculation), Toronto. His sport interests were baseball, rugby and hockey. William worked at Westman Publications Ltd. Toronto from 1935 onwards and enlisted on 28 February 1941. |
After William’s training, he embarked from Canada on 30 April 1942 and arrived in the U.K. at 3PRC on 13 May 1942. He then went on to 25 OTU 16 June 1942, 61 Con. Flight 21 September 1942, 1660 CU 20 October 1942 and 50 Squadron on 28 October 1942. William sadly lost his life on 13 February 1943. |
