Reason for Loss | On navigation exercise during which the crew strayed off track. At 1250, or thereabouts, the Wellington flew into a barrage balloon cable and crashed, possibly in the area of Church Minshull, 4 miles SW of Middlewich, Cheshire. To date, this was the highest death toll in a single OTU accident. |
