Reason for Loss | Take off: 2230 30 Mar 1944 from Bourn to bomb a target in Nürnberg. Outbound, attacked down by a Me110 (credited either to Oblt Martin Becker 2./NJG 6 or Fw Hans Meissner 2./NJG 3). Aircraft exploded in the air, the empennage crashing to the ground between Rechtenbach and Lützellinden, the fuselage and wings crashing 200 m S of Münchholzhausen, 5 km ESE of Wetzlar. All seven crew killed. |
