Miscellaneous Information
George was born on 1 June 1918 at Merritton, Ontario. Both parents were born in England, his father in London and his mother, now deceased, in Portsmouth. His father worked as a Millwright. The schools he attended were: Consolidated 5 & 6, 1924-1931 (Entrance) and St. Catherine’s Collegiate, 1931-1935 (3 years Matric). His sport interests were, basketball, baseball, swimming and lacrosse. He had taken a St. John’s Ambulance Course. George worked as a machine operator for Yale & Towne Lock Company, from 1936 until enlistment on 21 August 1940. |
After training he arrived at 3 PRC on 7 June 1941 and he then went to 12 OTU 14 June 1941, 25 OTU 6 September 1941, and 83 Squadron 14 January 1942. Sadly George was to lose his life on 9 April 1942 |
