Miscellaneous Information
Russell was born on 31 July 1916 at Toronto, Ontario. His father was born in Lucknow, Ontario and worked as an Agent in Los Angeles, USA and his mother was born in Toronto. The school he attended was Herman Grade School, 1926-1934 followed by Franklin High School 1934-1938 (Academic and Science) both in Los Angeles. The only sport interest shown is football. Although Russell was a Canadian Citizen he had lived in the USA since 1923. He had worked for Southern Pacific Rail Line in Los Angeles as a Fireman and then as a painter for David H. Lane from 1941 onwards. He then enlisted on 11 February 1942. |
After enlistment and training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 25 September 1942. He was at 3 PRC on 8 October, then 27 OTU 3 November 1942 and 199 Squadron 17 February 1943. Sadly, Russell died on 12 March 1943. |
