Miscellaneous Information
Born 27/7/15 and was the youngest of nine children. Attended Allithwaite school 1920-25, then Ulverston Grammar. A keen athlete and particularly enjoyed running, rugby and golf. Joined the Metropolitan Police in 1936 as a Detective and served until 1941 when he enlisted. Trained in Canada and then posted to 630 Sqn at East Kirkby. Promoted to F/O in 1943 and transferred to 83 Sqn Pathfinders at Coningsby. |
DFC awarded whilst with 582 Squadron and was published in London Gazette 15th September 1944. |
