Miscellaneous Information
This was a 75 Sqn aircraft but two of the regular crew were unable to make the flight- WOp Ted Gray RNZAF and Navigator John Fabian RNZAF. Gray's place was taken by WOp F/S Robert McWilliam from the Blincoe crew, 75 (NZ) Sqdn. There was no Navigator on this flight. Drayton was an Air Gunner and therefore did not take the place of Fabian. It is not know why he was aboard, although with two Air Gunners already aboard it is possible he was a passenger. Drayton's death was registered in Stafford, close to Hixon (where 30 OTU was based at the time), which is at odds with his place of death.
