| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Struck Snaefell, Isle of Man in bad weather and burst into flames. Miraculously, before it exploded, Cpl Ted Brightmore was thrown clear of the aircraft as it bounced down the mountainside. He nevertheless received serious burns as a result of being doused in burning petrol which was extinguished in lying snow, saving his life. He was able to struggle through the snow to a farmhouse some two miles away. He treated for his burns by the renowed Dr. McIndoe. |
