Reason for Loss | Badly damaged over target by enemy fire. Pilot successfully limped back to England even though the pilot had little control of the control surfaces. Became unmanageable over Henlow, Cambridgeshire and the order to bail out was given. P/O Davies's parachute was damaged when the aircraft was hit so he made his escape roped to the bomb aimer but fell to his death during the descent. |
