Miscellaneous Information
Murray was born at Prince George, British Columbia on 30 September 1922. His father was born at Victoria, British Colombia and was a Major in the 2nd Searchlight Battery, Woodstock, Ontario and his mother, who was deceased by the tiome of Murray's enlistment, was also born in Ontario. He attended King George V school 1928-1936, then Baron Byng High 1936-1941. He was a student and had no employment, enlisting 8 July 1941. His hobbies were fishing and athletics and sport interests were basketball, softball, lacrosse and football. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. embarking from Halifax on 13 March 1942. He arrived at 3 PRC on 20 March then went on to 3 AGS 28 May 1942, 420 Sqn 27 June 1942, 83 Conversion Flt 10 August 1942 and 1654 CU 1 September 1942. Sadly, Murray then lost his life on 17 September 1942, just before his 20th birthday. |
