Miscellaneous Information
Robert was born on 4 May 1914 at River Hebert, Nova Scotia. His father was a Rancher, born at River Hebert and his mother was born at East River, St. Marie’s. He had six sisters: Isabel, Helen, Maria, Maryann, Joyce and Gladys. He attended Okanagan Falls Public school 1921-1928 followed by Oliver Superior High, 1928-1931. He also went to the Agricultural School Olds, Alberta 1937-1938 (last year University). His favourite sports were basketball and badminton. He had also spent two years in the scouts. He worked with his father, farming at Okanagan Falls between 1931 and 1941 before enlisting on 8 October 1941. |
After training Robert was posted to the U.K. and arrived at 3 PRC on 2 September 1942 then continued to 10 (O) AFU 14 September 1942, 16 OTU 29 September 1942, 1654 CU 2 February 1943, 1661 CU 16 February 1943, and finally 97 Squadron on 27 February 1943. Robert was then sadly to lose his life on 23 September 1943. |
