Reason for Loss | Aircraft took off at 0802hrs for a bombing exercise. Having reached 6000ft, the port engine failed, causing the aircraft to return to base. The pilot F/L Macleod made a successful approach but upon touching down at 0924hrs, the aircraft bounced back into the air. The throttles were opened up in order to make a second approach, but the aircraft crashed, wheels down, into Findhorn Bay. The aircraft turning over as it struck the water. |
