| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Twice hit by flak over the target, the Lancaster made it back to England despite losing some of its instruments. It flew up the East Coast in thick cloud before finally crashing in the mouth of the River Witham in The Wash, near Boston. Survivors were picked yup from their dinghy by local fishermen |
