Reason for Loss | Took off and crashed 2 minutes later into a field on Staple Farm, Hawton, a mile SSW of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. At the time of the crash, the Wellingtons undercarriage had been raised when, without warning, the nose of the aircraft pitched down and before the situation could be rectified, the bomber was on the ground. |
