Sgt Barber had on December 11th 1943 survived a crash landing at Snowshill, Gloucestershire, in Wellington HE460 of 82 OTU (RAF Ossington) at 23.05 when the aircraft crashed due to an engine malfunction. He was treated in hospital for shock and abrasions. The rear-gunner Sgt W Young (1795688 RAFVR) was killed and two colleagues seriously injured; two other colleagues were treated for minor injuries. |
