Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born on 28 August 1920 in St. Hilaire, Quebec. His father was also born in St. Hilaire and his mother in Valerien. Jospeh was the eldest of a large family. He studied his High School Entrance at Otterburn Park Public School, leaving after his sixth year (1926-1933). Between 1934-1938 Joseph worked as a clerk, 1938-1940 he was an operator in an ammunition shop, and then as an apprentice in a distillery. Joseph enjoyed canoeing and also played tennis and hockey. |
Before enlisting, Joseph went on No.3 C.A.B.T.C. training course at Sherbrooke between 19 June 1941 and 15 July 1941. He then enlisted the following day on 16 July. After basic training, Joseph embarked from Canada on 28 October 1942 and arrived in the U.K. at 3 PRC on 6 November 1942 and 23 OTU on 8 December 1942. |
