Reason for Loss | The pilot, F/L John Hubert Roberts, landed at Fulbeck for fighter affiliation exercises and in the crew room offered a trip to a number of flight engineers. Bert Ashcroft accepted the offer. While practicing intercepts using Village Inn radar detection equipment, pulled up into the slipstream of the Lancaster with which it was practicing. Lost control and crashed into Stapleford Woods near Coddington. |
