Miscellaneous Information
Clifford was born on 30 April 1919 at Toronto, Ontario. His father, a plumber by trade, was born in Whitney, Oxfordshire, England and his mother was born in Toronto. The schools he attended were Norway Public 1925-1933 followed by Malvern, Collegiate Institute 1933-1936. He then left to take commercial work at the Earl Beatty school 1936 -1937. His sport interests were hockey, rugby and basketball. He worked in the plumbing industry from 1937 onwards for Purdy Mansell Ltd. until enlisting on 5 June 1941. |
After training Clifford embarked from Canada on 7 August 1942, reaching 3 PRC on 19 August. He then went on to 14 (P) AFU 29 August 1942, 30 OTU 27 October 1942 eventually reaching 199 Squadron on 17 May 1943. Sadly, the following month on 12 June 1943, Clifford was to lose his life. |
