Robert was born in Saskatchewan on 30 May 1924 and lived in Rockhaven. He was the son of Hubert James Abrams who was a farmer, born Grey County, Ontario and Ella Mabel (Reid) who was born in London, England. He attended Rockhaven Primary school 1930-1938 and then Rockhaven High 1938-1942. Robert worked on the farm at home between 1942-1943 then he left to enlist. |
He enlisted on 6 June 1943, and after training Embarked from Halifax for UK on 25 May 1944. On arrival he went to 3 PRC and then on to 28 OTU, 71 Base and ending up with 576 Squadron on 29 November 1944. |
He enjoyed playing golf, shooting, cycling and soft ball. |
