Reason for Loss | Developed engine trouble shortly after leaving base, and turned back. Owing to the fumes that were building up in the cockpit, the pilot decided to crash-land as soon as he crossed the English coast and did so in a field near Gosport. Unfortunately the aircraft burst into flames and all attempts to save him were thwarted. |
