Miscellaneous Information
617 Squadron Operational Records Book (AIR 27/2526/8) records that some of the casualties were from 617 Sqn., attached to No.9 Sqn for Exercise Sunray. Six of the aircrew (Lukins, Turner, Wise, Dear, Brittain and Sleigh) were from No. 617, based then at RAF Binbrook. Gillman was 'HQ Flying Wing' via 617 Sqn, whilst the four ground crew passengers (Townsend, Sword, Gilby and Hepplewhite) were from No.9 Sqdn, also based at Binbrook. |
