| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Successfully dropped but the Gestapo were waiting and immediately arrested him on landing as part of the 'Funkspiel' using previously captured radios and access codes. After interrogration he was transferred to Place des Etats-Unis, Paris and then to Breslau Prison, Poland. He was later brought back in an attempt by the Germans to involve him in the Funkspiel but he refused and was sent to Rawitsch Prison. When orders were received for his execution he was taken to KZ Gross-Rosen concentration camp. His body was cremated and he has no known grave. |
