A former pupil of Chesterfield Grammar School, where he was captain of Lingard House and vice-captain of the school in his final term. Reason for Loss | Killed in a cycling accident. He had not cared for cycling as a child and had only learned to ride a matter of days before his death. Lost control on encountering a steep hill and was thrown over the handlebars onto a concrete structure by the side of the road. He sustained a blow to the head and was killed instantly. |
