Miscellaneous Information
Ralph was born on 20 November 1919 at Niagara Falls, Ontario. Both parents were born in England and Ralph gave his own nationality as British on his enlistment papers. His father worked as a caretaker and was born In Norwich, Norfolk and his mother was born in Leeds but died in 1923. He had one sister Sylvia Florence. William went to Barker Street Public School 1925-1932 (General), Niagara Falls Collegiate and Vocational 1932-1935 (Technical Course) and Niagara Falls Collegiate and Vocational 1935-1937 (Commercial Course). His sport interests were swimming , softball, and tennis. He worked as a Shute winder, loom winder and weaver 1937-1941 at Niagara Wire Weaving Co. |
Ralph enlisted on 30 June 1941 and after training embarked for the U.K. where he arrived at 3 PRC on 18 August 1942, going in to 1((0) AFU 25 August 1942, 22 OTU on 14 September 1942 and 1659 CU on 4 January 1943. On 5 April 1943, Ralph sadly lost his life. |
