Miscellaneous Information
Andrew was born at The Pas, Manitoba on 19 February 1923. His father was born at Trent Bridge ,Ontario and was a farmer and his mother at Cowdenbeath, Scotland. He had brothers John Alexander and David Arthur as well as sisters Elsie, Catherine, Margaret, Joyce and Fay. Plus three half siblings, Don, Frank and Mildred. The schools he went to were The Pas, Manitoba 1929-1937 (grade 7) and Flin Flin School 1937-1938 (grade 8). He worked for Bob Johnson as a butcher between 1938-1940 at The Pas, at Belle Hardware, Delivering 1940-1941, and as a Press Operator for Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting at Flin Flon 1941-1942. |
Andrew enlisted at Saskatoon on 8 September 1942. He embarked from New York on 3 August 1943, and arrived at 3 PRC in England on 12 August 1943. He then went through 29 OTU on 24 August 1943, 1665 CU 12 November 1943, 1653 CU 16 December 1943, 31 Base 1 January 1944 and 75 Squadron 10 August 1944. |
