Miscellaneous Information
Thomas was born at Courtenay, British Colombia on 6 November 1914. His father was born at Clinton, B.C. and worked as a professional Engineer and his mother was born at Salt Spring, B.C. He had three brothers, James Arthur who was in the RCAF overseas, Norman and Gavin. He had no sisters. The schools he attended were Courtenay Public school 1922-1927, and Courtenay High school 1927-1932. He then went to the University of British Colombia 1932-1935. Thomas played all sports moderately but preferred basketball and baseball. He worked for Vancouver Island Utilities Ltd from 1935 onwards and then enlisted on 14 August 1941. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and arrived at 3 PRC on 30 July 1942. He then went to 3(0) AFU 8 August 1942, 23 OTU 25 August 1942 and 196 Squadron on 10 November 1942. Sadly Thomas lost his life on 15 February 1943. |
