Reason for Loss | This aircraft had landed at RAF Exeter on 5 July 1941 after being damaged by flak during an attack on Brest harbour. Sgt. Cope and crew were safe. The starboard engine had failed and was repaired locally before this crew, many of whom were freshers, were sent from RAF Driffield to collect it. Prior to their retuirn trip they took the aircraft up for an air test but crashed 2 miles NE of Exeter. |
