Reason for Loss | Attacked by a Bf 109 fighter piloted by Unteroffizer Werner Woite, killing Sgt Wilkin and injuring one of the air gunners, F/S Tates. Despite extensive damage, the crew were able to return the aircraft to Kinloss and effected a crash-landing. The remainder of the crew were safe but the aircraft was struck off charge due to the damage it sustained both in the attack and the subsequent crash-landing |
