Miscellaneous Information
Gordon was born at Hamilton, Ontario on 24 February 1918. His father was born in Hamilton and was a Salesman and his mother was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He had one sister, Nora Madeleine. The schools he attended were the George L. Armstrong Public school, Hamilton, between 1923-1931 and then Central Collegiate Institute 1931-1936. He also did a three year Pharmacy apprenticeship course. Gordon also took part in playing hockey and baseball and enjoyed photography. Between 1936-1937 he worked as a drug apprentice for Parke & Parke Co. and then, also as an apprentice, for the G. Tamblyn Co. between 1937-1938. Gordon was then with Hamilton Drug Ltd. during 1938-1939 before enlisting on 22 April 1940. |
After basic training, Gordon was posted to the UK, where he arrived on 25 November 1940. He continued through 11 OTU on 30 November to 7 Squadron on 12 March 1941. Gordon went missing and is believed to have drowned after crashing in the sea when attacked by enemy aircraft on 28 June 1941. |
