Miscellaneous Information
Sylvan was born on 5 August 1915 at Castor, Alberta. Both parents were born at Ontario, his father at St. Jacob’s who worked as a clerk, and his mother who sadly died in 1929. He attended both Public School 1921-1929 and High School 1930-1934 in Castor where he attained grade XII. He enjoyed playing baseball. Sylvan worked in farming for T. J. Coppack 1936-1938 and then was working for himself as a painter from 1938 onwards. At the end of 1940 until enlisting on 23 November, he also spent about three months working on an elevator for R. Scott of Castor. |
After training he was posted to to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 28 October 1942 arriving at 3PRC on 6 November. From there he went to Feltwell 3 December 1942 and 487 Squadron on 16 December 1942. It was from 487 squadron that Sylvan sadly lost his life on 4 April 1943 |
