Harry was born on 29 July 1918 at MooseJaw , Saskatchewan. His father, Henry, was born in England and worked as an Insurance agent, and his mother was born in the USA. Harry had siblings Robert and Marion. He enjoyed many sports in moderation, including hockey and cricket. He worked at Safeway Stores in Edmonton 1935-1940 and was then unemployed until 1941 when he enlisted on 26 May. |
After initial training, he embarked from Canada on 9 February 1942, arriving 3 PRC on 20 February 1942, followed by 1 SS 17 March, 1942, 3(C) OTU), 7 July 1942, 22 OTU 9 March 1943, and 425 Squadron on 3 May 1943. Sadly Henry was to lose his life on 12 June 1943. |

Operation | Düsseldorf. 783 aircraft. 38 losses (4.9%). PFF marking was accurate but one Mosquito inadvertently released some target indicators far from the target, confusing the main force and causing many bombs to fall in open countryside. Nevertheless, much damage was caused to the centre of Düsseldorf with at least 130 acres laid waste 1292 people were killed and 140000 people bombed out. 42 businesses that contributed to the war effort were put completely out of action and a further 35 were put on reduced output. 8 ships were sunk or damaged. |
