Miscellaneous Information
Cecil was born on 6 May 1915 at Montreal, Quebec. His mother died in 1940. He had two younger brothers George and Edward and six sisters. Emma, Winnifred, Christina, Kathleen, Meta and Rita. Cecil’s schooling was at Royal Arthur, 1922-1930, Montreal High 1930-1931; Montreal Tech 1931-1932 (two seasons). He also studied at I.C.S. Aircraft Engines (rigging & Fitting) 1938 onwards. He enjoyed hockey, basketball and swimming and had played in the Lions Club League of 1934 and earlier. His hobbies were woodwork and making models. Cecil worked at A.A.Giddings & Company as an apprentice motor winder 1931-1934; at Montreal General Hospital as an Elevator Operator, plumber’s helper, engineers Assistant and fireman. 1934-1939; also at Shell Oil Co. of Canada as an assistant engineer, until enlisting on 2 April 1940. |
He embarked from Canada on 1 May 1942 arriving at 3 PRC on 14 May 1942, followed by 405 Squadron on 12 June 1942. Cecil was to lose his life shortly after, on 30 June 1942. |
