Robert was born on 15 September 1911 in Nokomis, Saskatchewan. His father was a farmer born in North Gower, Ontario and his mother in Kinburn, Ontario. The schools he attended were Newlands Public School, 1918- 1926. Nokomis High School 1926-1927. He also attended night classes at Central Tech, Toronto 1936-1937 on Auto Motor Ignition. The sports Robert enjoyed were baseball, swimming and skating. He worked as a driver and was a tractor mechanic. |
He enlisted on 18 October 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K. where he arrived at 3 PRC on 18 April 1943. He went on to 63 OTU 27 April 1943, 1664 CU 3 July 1943, and 434 Squadron 25 July 1943. He was sadly killed two months later. |
