Miscellaneous Information
Clifford was born at Makinak, Manitoba on 17 March 1921. His father was a farmer born in Nova Scotia and his mother, who was deceased by the time of Clifford's enlistment, was born in Alberta. He had two sisters, Hilda and Lena. Clifford went to school at Makinak between 1927-1935 followed on in 1935-1939 (grade 11). His sport interests were football, baseball and hockey. Clifford worked as an Agent for Manitoba & Poole Elevators, a grain handling machine company in 1939 but was then at home until enlisting. |
He enlisted on 7 November 1942 and after training embarked from Canada for the U.K. on 25 May 1944. He arrived at 3 PRC on 3 June 1944 then went to 3 (0) AFU 13 June 1944, 24 OTU 25 July 1944, 61 Base 1 November 1944 and 419 Squadron on 26 February 1945. Sadly, Clifford was to lose his life on 16 March 1945. |
