His father, Montague Stanley Trehern emigrated from England to Punta Arenas, Chile, around 1908. He was a sheep ranch manager and married Blanca Elina (née Perkins) while in Chile. Richard was born and raised in Chile although was familiar with England due to visits to family. |
He is also commemorated on an obelisk in the Minicipal Cemetery in Punta Arenas, Chile. |
