Miscellaneous Information
Angus was born on 21 January 1916 at Toronto, Ontario. His father was born at Stouffville, Ontario and was a retired C.P.R worker and his mother was born in County Antrim, Ireland. The schools he attended were Queen Alexandra, Toronto, 1924- 1930, Eastern Commerce, Toronto, 1930-1931, Danforth Tech 1931-1932 and finally he went to the Polytech in Los Angeles, 1936-1937. The sports he enjoyed were swimming, fishing and playing golf. Photography and chess were his hobbies. During the missing years 1933-1936 Angus worked at Cormar Garage, Toronto as a mechanic 1933-1934, then at The Arcadian as assistant manager, 1934-1936. Angus then spent the years 1936-1939 in Arizona, working as a Rigger at Sante Railway. He was back in Toronto 1939-1942 working as a Salesman for the Central Overall Supply Company before enlisting on 23 November 1943. His first wife was Alice Elizabeth Torbett. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 4 October 1944 arriving in the U.K. on 13 October. He was then sent to 24 OTU 28 December 1944, 76 Base 6 April 1945 and 1659 CU on 13 April 1945. Sadly the following month Angus lost his life on 17 May 1945. |
